Better Hours is a workday companion for remote and desk workers. It runs on one calm timer and prompts small recovery steps through the day (focus blocks, short breaks, eye rest, movement, and a drink of water) so you log off with energy left instead of fried. It is a one-time purchase, with no subscription.
It is built to be the opposite of reminder overload. You get one cue at a time, and you can skip it. The goal is not to nag you into compliance, it is to give your body one easy off-ramp during a long sitting day.
The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. You focus on one task for a set block of time (a "Pomodoro"), take a short break, then repeat, with a longer break after four blocks. Working in short, protected bursts fits how attention actually works: focus is easiest to sustain in stretches, not marathons, so regular breaks keep you sharper all day.
Every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for at least 20 seconds. It gives the focusing muscles in your eyes a regular rest and reminds you to blink, which is the simplest, most recommended way to ease digital eye strain from screen work.
A well-supported rhythm is a short break every 25 to 30 minutes, plus a longer break every couple of hours. What matters most is getting up, moving, and looking away from the screen regularly rather than sitting locked in for hours. Better Hours keeps that rhythm for you.
A common guideline is around eight glasses a day, but the right amount depends on your body, activity, and climate. The bigger point is steady sipping through the day instead of nothing all morning and a rush at lunch, since even mild dehydration brings on fog and fatigue.
Several, all free with no signup and no download: a customizable Pomodoro timer, a 20-20-20 eye break reminder, a work break reminder, a desk stretch reminder, a water reminder with an intake tracker, and a quick burnout quiz. You can find them all under Free Tools.
Those protect your focus and push more output. Better Hours protects your evening. The check-ins are about how you feel and what your body needs, not about squeezing more work out of you.
